Do I need to include a photo when applying for a Vietnam visa?
Yes, you do.
To obtain a Vietnam e-Visa online, you must upload clear pictures of your passport’s bio page and a portrait photo. The portrait photo should be in .jpg format and have dimensions of 4x6cm format.
When applying for a Vietnam visa at a Vietnam embassy, you should include your photo in the application.
If you plan to enter Vietnam with an on-arrival visa, be sure to have 02 passport-sized photos ready for the online process.
Vietnam e-Visa application requirements and photo sizes
Portrait photo:
- The portrait photo should be either 4 x 6 cm (the standard size for Vietnamese photography) or 2 x 2 inches in .jpg format.
- The maximum file size for this photo should be 1024KB.
- You should take the photo within the last 6 months.
- Ensure that the photo captures your entire face, facing directly, with a well-lit, solid background.
- Please refrain from wearing hats or head scarves unless it is for religious reasons.
- Keep a neutral facial expression; you don’t need to smile.
Passport bio page photo:
- Ensure that the photo of your passport’s bio page is clear and of high quality.
- The maximum file size for this photo should be 2048KB.

Photo size:
- The standard photo size for Vietnamese visa applications is 4 x 6 cm.
- Alternatively, you can use a 2 x 2-inch photo.

- Your photos must be identical and taken within the last 6 months.
- They should be in color and printed on professional photo paper.
- Your entire face must be visible, with a bright, solid background.
- Please refrain from wearing hats or head scarves, unless it’s for religious reasons.
- Generally, we do not accept black or tinted glasses, except for medical reasons.
- In exceptional cases, authorities may allow consistent items like prescription glasses, hearing aids, wigs, or similar accessories.
