What is a Vietnam e-visa?
The Vietnam e-visa is a convenient visa option provided by the Vietnam Immigration Department for foreigners. It’s valid for 90 days and allows multiple entries. As of 15th August 2023, anyone from around the world can apply for this e-visa.
Vietnamese E-Visa: A Quick Guide
If you’re outside Vietnam and want to visit, you can either apply for the E-visa directly or through authorized agencies. When applying, you’ll pay a fee online as set by the Immigration Department. Please note that if they deny your application, they will not refund this fee.
There are specific ports where foreigners can use their E-visa to enter and exit Vietnam.
To be eligible for an e-visa, you must:
- Be a foreigner outside Vietnam.
- Ensure you possess a valid passport.
- Not be on the restricted entry list as stated in Article 21 of the Vietnamese immigration law.
Applying for an E-visa from Outside Vietnam
Step 1: Provide Necessary Information
- Upload the data page of your passport and a photo (facing forward without glasses).
- After completing this step, you’ll receive a registration code.
Step 2: Pay the E-visa Fee
- It takes about 3 working days to process your application.$25 for a single-entry electronic visa
- $50 for a multiple-entry electronic visa
Step 3: Check Your E-visa Status
- Use your registration code, email, and date of birth to search for your E-visa results.
- If approved, print your E-visa to use when entering or exiting Vietnam.

Setting Up for the First Time
- To apply for an E-visa for someone else, you need to register and get a digital signature first.
- The Immigration Department will create your account within 3 working days of receiving your complete application.
- You only need to set up your account and electronic signature once. To change registered info or cancel the account, follow a different process.
Applying for an E-visa
- Access Portal: Please utilize your credentials to sign in.
- Please enter the details of the foreign individual and submit accordingly. Upload the passport’s data page and a clear face photo (no glasses). Once you submit, they will give you a registration code for each application.
- Sign: Attach the electronic signature to the application.
- Payment: Handle the E-visa application fee.
- Check & Share: Monitor the application’s status in your account. Once approved, share the registration code with the applicant. We will use this to produce their E-visa for entry and exit from Vietnam.
E-Visa Rules & Procedures in Vietnam
- If you have an E-visa and a sponsor in Vietnam, you might qualify for a new visa. This means you can stay longer and enjoy more benefits. A sponsor is someone who can confirm your identity and purpose of visit. This is according to the Vietnamese law that regulates the entry and exit of foreigners.
- You must follow Vietnam’s laws when you visit the country.
- Invite or guarantee someone to visit Vietnam by applying online as per the law.
- Note: Some foreigners cannot apply for an e-visa on this website. The law lists them for foreigners. They need to apply through their inviter or guarantor, who will work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
